I would like to know of a female vocalist; non-jazz, who does a nice soft rendition of " Falling In Love with Love by Rodgers and Hart. If you know the album it's on that would be a plus. Thanx.

Hi bearz,
This song, "Falling In Love With Love" by Rodgers & Hart, from their 1938 musical, "The Boys From Syracuse" was introduced in the musical by Muriel Angelus and ladie of the ensemble. In the 1940 movie rendition it was sung by Allan Jones. I believe the singer you are searching for is one of the following three female artists. 1) Falling In Love With Love, sung with exquisite sweetness by Louise Gold 2) Frances Langford (# 18 on Billboard charts in 1939) 3) Dame Judi Dench Although this title is in reality titled, "Falling In Love With Love", I have noticed that some places have it listed as "Fallin' In Love With Love". I'm sorry, but I do not know which album it may be on by either of these artists. I hope that this is of some help. "Keep a song in your heart, and let your smile sing"

Thank you. Someone told me that the song was borrowed for the musical version of Cinderella, but I don't find it listed. I have a Rodgers and Hart Song book; "We'll take Manhattan", but the version is jazz and it's too up-beat for my taste. I found a version by Joni James also but haven't had a chance to hear it. I'll look for those you've suggested. Lyrics always amaze me...the way they can say exactly what's in someone's heart. I write poetry and sometimes I'm able to hit the nail on the head; but usually I'm more amazed by others.
Thanks again. bears |

Hi Bearz,
This song was borrowed for the 1997 version of Cinderella, with the following lyrics: from the "Boys from Syracuse"--this song was added to the 1997 TV Broadcast of Cinderella, but was not in the original score. Falling in Love with Love is falling for make-believe! Falling in Love with Love is playing the fool! Caring too much is such a juvenile fancy! Learning to trust is just for children in school. I fell in Love with Love one night when the moon was full I was unwise with eyes unable to see! I fell in Love with Love with love ever-lasting. But Love fell out, with me!! Falling in Love with Love is falling for make-believe! Falling in Love with Love is playing the fool! Caring too much is such a juvenile fancy! Learning to trust is just for children in school. I fell in Love with Love one night when the moon was full I was unwise with eyes unable to see! I fell in Love with Love, Love ever-lasting! But love fell out, with me! ~~~~~~~~~ In this movie it was credited as follows: "Falling in Love with Love" Music by Richard Rodgers Lyrics by Lorenz Hart Performed by Bernadette Peters and Veanne Cox & Natalie Desselle Of course this is just the refrain. If you would like Lorenz Hart's verse to this song which precedes the refrain, just reply and let me know. I do have the complete lyric. "Keep a song in your heart, and let your smile sing"

Hello Bearz,
This song has also been recorded over the years by: Judy Garland; Julie Andrews; Lena Horne; Anita O'Day; Marian McPartland; Carmen McRae; Dinah Shore; Catarina Valente; Sarah Vaughan; and many others. But the version I recommend you try and listen to is by The Supremes from their album "The Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart" from 1967. It is currently available on a 26-track CD titled "The Supremes Sing Rodgers and Hart: The Complete Recordings". Cheers.........Mel. |

Thank you everyone! You're so kind and helpful. I"m going out right now and try to find the Supremes's right now because what I want is something I can sing along to...(let that be our secret.) I have the lyrics down pat...but need music behind me...and a nice set of pipes to cover up my own, as I blast away. (LOL) If I ever get up enough gumption I may try to find a kareoke version....hmmmm?
